We stock and install BFT-compatible welded gate components throughout Orange County, with most fabrication repairs and replacements running $275 – $950 installed, depending on the part and your gate’s configuration. Most BFT welding and fabrication jobs are completed within a 2 – 4 hour arrival window, often same-day when we have the specific bracket or hinge assembly on the truck. Owners typically discover these failures the hard way: a gate that drops an inch on the hinge side, a drive rail that rattles loose from its welded mount, or an actuator bracket that cracked clean through after years of Orange County sun and daily cycles.
If your BFT gate has a cracked weld, a broken hinge plate, or a fabrication issue that keeps it from closing square, this page will tell you what it costs, whether it’s worth repairing, and how we handle it. We’re an independent gate repair company, not affiliated with BFT, but we’ve been servicing their operators and hardware across Orange County since 2008.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
Welding and fabrication issues show up across the BFT swing and slide gate lines we service in Orange County, from the older Phobos and Giuno swing actuators to the Deimos and Ares slide operators, plus the more recent Rigel and Zara series. The part that usually fails isn’t the motor itself. It’s the steel that holds it: the rear mounting bracket, the gate hinge clevis, or the rack mount for slide systems.
To match the right part, we look at two things: the BFT model plate on the operator body and the actual measurements of the broken piece. BFT has changed bracket geometry between series, so a Giuno rear mount will not line up on a Rigel. The same goes for hinge assemblies: pin diameter, plate thickness, and bolt spacing vary by gate weight class. When we can source the OEM bracket, we use it. When BFT no longer carries the part, which happens on models over 10 years old, we fabricate an equivalent from matching-gauge steel and dimension it to the original. We tell you which route we’re taking and why before we start.

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate has visible sag on the free end. The hinge-side weld is fatiguing and the gate is levering away from the post. You’ll see the gap at the top hinge widen before the gate actually drops.
- You hear a clunk when the gate starts or stops. That’s usually a cracked mounting bracket shifting under torque. The actuator moves, the bracket flexes, and the sound is metal finding a new home.
- The gate scrapes or drags on the ground. A failed weld at the actuator mount changes the gate’s arc, and the free end starts kissing pavement or gravel.
- You find rust staining at the welds. Orange County is dry, but coastal moisture in areas like Corona del Mar and Laguna does reach bare steel. Rust at a weld means the joint has been failing slowly, and it will only get worse.
- The gate closes past the stop or won’t hold the closed position. The actuator is pushing against a mount that’s no longer rigid, so the gate overshoots or the limit switch reads the wrong position.

Every quote is written before we touch a single bolt. The price covers the parts, the welding or fabrication labor, on-site cleanup, and the Kingswell Guarantee in writing. If the repair fails within 365 days, we come back and fix it. No charge for the return visit, no argument about whose fault it was. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s stamped on the invoice.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect a few things yourself: look for visible cracks in the steel, check that the hinge bolts are tight, and watch the gate as it cycles once to see where it shifts. But structural welding and bracket fabrication are not DIY work. A gate that weighs 600 pounds and fails at the wrong moment can injure someone standing in its path. When you’re working with high-tension springs, heavy gate leaves, and tools that throw sparks, the risk isn’t worth saving a few hundred dollars. If the weld itself is cracked, call a professional. We’ll get it done right the first time, and we’ll put the price in writing before we start. Call us at (820) 529-0801.
FAQs
In Orange County’s dry climate, a properly installed BFT bracket should last 10 – 20 years, but coastal properties in places like Newport Beach or Huntington Beach will see corrosion earlier than inland. The weld typically fails before the steel does when the original installation left the gate slightly out of balance.
Sometimes, yes. If the steel is still sound and the crack is limited to the original weld bead, we grind it back and lay a new weld. If the metal itself has torn or thinned from rust, we replace the bracket or hinge assembly. We’ll show you which applies to your gate before we quote the work.
Most hinge and bracket repairs take 2 – 4 hours on-site. Fabricating a custom bracket from scratch may require a return visit if we need to source steel to match a thicker gauge. We confirm the time frame in writing before the job starts, and we arrive in the window we committed to.
We stock common BFT hinge assemblies, clevis pins, and rear mounting brackets, along with the steel stock to fabricate most others. If your model needs a part we don’t carry, we can usually have it sourced or fabricated within 48 hours. Call (820) 529-0801 and we’ll tell you what applies to your gate before you commit to anything.
